Love is Love is Love

This post is in response to all the negative & hate-filled comments posted on the All My Children Facebook Fan page as well as the ABC Soaps in Depth page about the lesbian relationship between Bianca & Marissa.  It is not intended to offend anyone. I love all people, whether they would return that love or not.
It really surprises me how homophobic, ignorant, bigoted & hate-filled some people who watch Soap Operas are. Soap Operas are known for not having high moral standards. We have people cheating on their significant others, having sex before marriage, killing, drugging people, & rape among other things people find morally wrong. But two women (or men) who just happen to fall in love with each other, to these people is disgusting & wrong & abnormal.
Bianca Montgomery is one of the most moral characters on All My Children. She has even been said to be the moral compass of the show. Bianca has never done anything with the intention of hurting anyone else. She loves everyone. & everyone on AMC loves & support her. Yet, because she is a lesbian, some people choose to hate her. Even though their favorite characters on AMC accept her for who she is & love her. The show itself has shown that it's ok to be gay & that lesbians are just like everyone else.  Maybe if these people wouldn't fast forward through the scenes or leave the room they would see that.
I think the story line between Bianca & Marissa is beautifully done. I give props to All My Children & ABC for giving us this story & especially to Christina B Lind (Bianca) & Sarah Glendening (Marissa) for making it so fantastic with their amazing chemistry & so believable with their incredible acting skills, as well as their support for the LGBT community. Also a very special thank you to Eden Riegel for bringing us this character that I love so much, as well as her support for the LGBT community. These 3 lovely ladies understand how important it is to have stories like this on TV. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for helping to make it possible.
Now some people would say that this story line is unrealistic because "people don't just turn gay" like they think Marissa did. To that I have to say: You're right! They don't. I believe people are born gay. However, there are so many people that, like Marissa, don't realize they are gay until later in life. They even get married to a person of the opposite gender like Marissa did. This is largely in part due to ignorant people who say its wrong & disgusting so they hide it deep inside even from themselves. It's a hurtful situation for everyone involved, & I think AMC has done a wonderful job portraying that.
It pains me to see people write that they think AJ would be better off with a drunk, alcoholic JR, then with Marissa, who loves him very deeply despite not being his biological mother, just because she is now in love with another women. Yes, I know that JR loves AJ too. He's a great father, when he's not drunk. But until he sobers up & stops being a asshole & scaring his own son, AJ is better off with Marissa. I think it's absurd that some people think she shouldn't get custody of him because she isn't his biological mother. Well, obviously she isn't, but she is biologically his aunt, & she legally adopted him & has been there for him as a mother. There are millions of people that are adopted, does that mean those that adopted them are not really their parents? No, because that would be bullshit. Biology & law does NOT make a family, LOVE does.
So to the haters, this is what I have to say: Wake up! This is 2011! Like it our not homosexuality is becoming more acceptable everyday. Stop condemning us for who we love. If you are a Christian, stop using your religion to say its wrong, instead act like a loving Christian, and stop spewing hatred & judgment on us.
I know I may get some hateful comments on this, but that's ok cuz I'm prepared for it. Sure, it will probably hurt, & maybe even make me cry. But guess what? I'll get past it. Because I'm here, I'm queer, & I'm not going anywhere! I will continue to fight for my equality til the day I die. I will NEVER stop. So try to bring me down all you want. It will only make me stronger & make me want to keep fighting even more. Love ALWAYS wins.
